The Monieson Centre works with organizations and researchers to provide leading-edge solutions to knowledge-related business problems. The Centre creates teams of Queen's faculty, graduate students, and experts from other universities to conduct custom, applied research for each client organization. The research findings are then translated into effective, practice-based recommendations. Here are some examples:
Kingston Community Health Centres Project: Strategic Planning Queen’s University and Monieson Centre researchers collaborated with this multi-agency organization in three sub-projects examining governance and information management.
Intel: Enhancing Virtual Teams Intel manages its global manufacturing enterprise by means of a network of global teams referred to as Virtual Factory (VF) teams. The Monieson Centre undertook a research project to study the functioning of these teams and, in particular, their ability to share knowledge effectively and efficiently.
BMO Financial Group: Knowledge Transfer The Monieson Centre engaged in a research project with the Bank of Montreal to study knowledge transfer.
Deloitte Canada: Strategies for Growth Working in partnership, Deloitte and Queen’s School of Business created the publication Strategies for Growth to provide Canadian Technology Fast 50 companies with an introduction to some of the finest thinking on strategies for managing and maintaining rapid growth.
Eastern Ontario Community Futures Development Corporations: Knowledge-Based Economic Development Many of Canada's rural communities are in economic, demographic, educational and social decline, according to a 2006 Interim Senate Report on rural poverty. The Knowledge Impact in Society (KIS) project will mobilize academic knowledge to increase rural Eastern Ontario's economic activity in order to grow healthier rural communities.
By bridging the gap between business theory and practice, the Monieson Centre offers problem solutions that are more rigorous, more comprehensive and often more economical than those provided by most consulting firms.
Located within the Queen's School of Business, The Monieson Centre creates researcher-business collaborations to explore how to generate value through knowledge.
With generous funding from Melvin R. Goodes (former Chairman and CEO of Warner-Lambert), The Monieson Centre, formerly the Queen's KBE Centre for Knowledge-Based Enterprises, was established in January 1999 at Queen's University within Queen's School of Business.
The Centre is named after Dr. David Dan Monieson, an emeritus faculty member renowned for inspirational teaching and leadership at Queen's School of Business. The Monieson Centre works with organizations and researchers to explore how to generate value through knowledge.
