Best Small & Medium Employers Survey PDF Print E-mail

Become a better employer through a simple, free study!

The Best Small & Medium Employers (BSME) Survey helps employers identify their strengths and weaknesses and guides them to developing an engaged company.  Studies show that high engagement can lead to financial success, attraction and retention, high morale, and productivity.  In partnership with the Queen’s Centre for Business Venturing (QCBV), the Knowledge Impact in Society project is offering this valuable human resources tool for free.

By having your employees complete a simple, anonymous online survey, you can learn how you can engage your workforce.  Engaged empmloyees:

  • Say: Speak postively about the organization to co-workers, potential employees and customers
  • Stay:  Have an intense desire to be part of the organization
  • Strive:  Exert extra effort and are dedicated to doing the very best job possible to contribute to the organization's business success

QCBV began this annual national study in 2003 in partnership with Hewitt Associates, a global HR consulting firm, and in conjunction with the Globe & Mail.  Initially offered to companies with 50 employees or more, they have now adapted it for Eastern Ontario's small businesses.  Any employer can participate and those with 10 completed surveys or more will receive a free report analyzing their HR practices.

A partial sample report is available for download here.  The full report includes an analysis of 21 employment engagement drivers to help employers make effective strategic decisions in improving their employment practices.

To participate in the survey, contact your local CFDC This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or QCBV directly.  The survey is conducted annually in May and June.  Deadline to register is June 1 of each year.
